The story.

Lemhi County Crisis Intervention Inc. was created in 1994 in response to nine suicides the county experienced in 1993. At the time, mental health professionals and domestic violence shelter programs from Southeast Idaho were brought in to help our community understand and address the issues of suicide, domestic violence, and sexual assault in Lemhi County. Their visit determined that the county would provide and operate a small emergency shelter for victims of personal crime.

Lemhi County Crisis Intervention Inc.
became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit on June 22, 2001. In December of that year, thanks to a grant award from the CHC Foundation, the property on Main Street in Salmon, Idaho was purchased as the official site of our agency. Because the home had previously belonged to the beloved Mahoney family, we became known in our community as the "Mahoney Family Safety Center". As time went on, we were most often referred to as "The Mahoney House" and this became our official name in 2021.

Since then,
The Mahoney House has been at the forefront of addressing domestic violence and sexual assault in Lemhi and Custer Counties. We work in cooperation and coordination with other Idaho and national domestic violence and sexual assault programs, as well as community service providers and agencies. We are proud to be a community leader in providing safe shelter, support, and hope to people victimized by domestic violence and sexual assault.

Historically, our efforts have been made possible by grant funding from the Idaho Council on Domestic Violence and Victim Assistance (State Domestic Violence Funds, VOCA Funds, Family Violence Funds), Idaho Housing and Finance Association, Steele Reese Foundation, STOP Grant, U.S. Department of Housing, Idaho Children's Trust Fund, Idaho Community Foundation, The United Way, fundraising events, individuals, churches, clubs, and organizations.

The team.

At The Mahoney House, we are here to provide the highest level of care and support, ensuring that every individual receives the attention and assistance they need. With our wealth of experience and passion, you can trust that you are in good hands.

Patrick Reagan
Advocate & Executive Director

Patrick joined The Mahoney House as the Executive Director in June 2021 and brought considerable business and life experience to his position at our crisis intervention center. He holds a bachelor's degree in Sociology, a Master of Business Administration degree, and a Juris Doctorate. He became a licensed attorney in 2020.

Pat has 11 children (all boys…. except for nine of them!) and has spent hundreds of hours volunteering and supporting his children's participation in school musicals, choirs, and bands.

Pam Martinez

Advocate & Office Administrator

Pam is a dedicated advocate who plays a pivotal role in supporting survivors at The Mahoney House. With over seven years of experience in the field, Pam is passionate about creating a safe and supportive environment for individuals and families affected by violence and abuse. In her role as office administrator, Pam oversees day-to-day operations, ensuring that the office runs smoothly and efficiently.

Additionally, she is an avid steelhead fisherman who loves to mountain bike. She lives in North Fork with her husband Brian, their dog Rusty, and cat Chico. She feels more comfortable chasing the perfect single-track trail or casting 1,000 casts for a chance at the fish than she does providing a biography. She truly believes a connection to nature fuels the fire within to find peace in any situation.

Chelsea Stephanishen
Advocate & Reporting Manager

Before The Mahoney House, Chelsea spent over ten years as an emergency room technician at our local hospital. She is cool, calm, and collected in any situation and has proven herself as a skilled advocate. Her time in the ER also provided her extensive experience with documentation making her indispensable as our reporting manager.

Chelsea grew up in Salmon and is now raising two amazing kids here. She is lucky to be married to her high school sweetheart and whether they're out hunting or cheering on the kids at their hockey games, they are always having a blast.

Mallori Wing

Advocate & Public Relations Specialist

With eight years of teaching experience and a love for graphic design, Mallori Wing brings a unique blend of creativity and communication skills to the team as our PR specialist. She has a genuine desire to make Salmon a better, more inclusive community and believes human connection is the best way to get there.

Mallori is in the chauffeur stage of life where much of her time is spent getting her four children to all of their many activities. When her schedule allows, she enjoys decluttering, rewatching Schitt's Creek, and driving her husband crazy with DYI projects.

Cait Cole
Advocate & Services Coordinator

Cait's warm soul joined us and now we can't imagine the office without her. After her years of working as a para and volleyball coach in our school district, advocacy comes naturally to her. Her experience also lent to her ability to manage our schedule as our services coordinator.

For the last seven years, Cait has been doing life with her high school sweetheart, James. They have a small farm outside of town where Cait has two horses, a flock of over 60 birds, and two adorable dogs that are her fur babies. She is also a huge book nerd and has read a massive amount of books.
